HD Cameras
New technology for analogue HD is POC (Power Over Coax), which means that the power can be fed through the coaxial cable, so you do not need a separate power cable. To use POC cameras, you need to have a POC DVR (Digital Video Recorder). Benefits include, lower cost for cables, and a separate power supply for the cameras is not required as they can be powered directly from the POC DVR.
IP Cameras
For both HD and IP cameras, new technology called ColorVu and Starlight, allows colour recording and viewing during the night, rather than black and white. Also both camera types now have functionality of being able to talk to the camera via the mobile app. For example, you can be alerted when someone triggers the motion detection on the camera and then you are able to talk with that person. Also these cameras can have predefined messages, based on time of day. For example, one message might be “private property, please leave”. You can also create custom messages.
CCTV IP cameras can integrate advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) software, offering sophisticated facial recognition functionality and advanced security benefits which is one of the most sophisticated surveillance solutions. Find out more about AI facial recognition CCTV systems.
Digital Video Recorders (DVR)
The latest innovation is a POC DVR, which is a Power Over Coax DVR, which needs fewer cables and keeps the DVR tidy. Sizes available between 1 Terabyte to 32 Terabytes.
